#1 PetSafe Chili (spicy)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb spicy/hot sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pkg chili mix
  • 32 oz red kidney beans 2 cans
  • 15 oz diced tomatoes 1 can
  • 4 oz diced jalapeños, finely chopped 1 can
  • 6 oz tomato paste 1 can
  • 20-30 oz water
  • 2 tbsp walt
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp cayenne powder
  • 2 tbsp dried crushed red pepper
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • ketchup, as needed

Instructions

  • Brown the ground beef and ground sausage. Drain excess grease.
  • Add the beans, tomatoes, jalapeños, onion, tomato paste, and water. Do not drain cans.
  • Stir in the packaged chili mix, salt, chili powder, cayenne pepper, red pepper, and black pepper.
  • Allow to simmer for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Add additional seasonings and/or ketchup to taste.
  • Allow to cook on low for 3 hours for seasoning to blend.
