“Uncle” Don

Don Swaney…
Not much I can say about Uncle Don. I have only seen him, never heard him. I honestly don’t even remember what his voice sounded like. I do know that he was a very kind man. He loved to farm and took care of his lawn like nobodies’ business.

It was best said by William Butler, his nephew, Don’s words were like gold pieces. When he talked you needed to cherish those times because they were worth a lot.

Obituary

Don Edwin Swaney, age 83 of Maryville, passed away January 23, 2019, at home in his sleep surrounded by his family. Don was a lifelong member of Mountain View Church of Christ (Christian) and retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co.

He was preceded in death by parents, Alvia and Elizabeth Raulston Swaney, brother, W. Gordon Swaney, nephew, Jayson Swaney.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Julia Coning Swaney, daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Scott Edmondson. And Megan Julia Butler, Carsyn Swaney, and Ruger Millsaps who all share a special place in “Uncle Don’s” heart, along with a host of many other special family members.

The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Church of Christ, 3102 Six Mile Rd., Maryville, Tn. 37803, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Westerfield officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mountain View Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
